Review By Bob Suehs from RockNRoll Experience: http://www.angelfire.com/rock/e4/stemm.html
================================
Angel’s Rock Bar, located in the Power Plant area of Downtown Baltimore, has been presenting live bands on a weekly basis for the past few months, & if you’ve never seen the live shows that they have on Thursday’s @ Angels, you are definitely missing out on a helluva great time! They have cheap drink specials, & Supernik from Burn the Fields, along with Sean of the Dead, DJ on this night, & in all honesty, they are the best DJ’s Angels have...I totally miss the weekends when Nik was DJing, but hey, that’s life..atleast he’s back there one night a week spinning all the best new & old REAL metal & rock!

Ok, so, on April 3, 2008, the New York based band STEMM played Angel’s Rock Bar, & I got there shortly before the band took the stage, so luckily, I didn’t miss one minute of this amazing bands set! STEMM have some of their music featured on UFC, they have one of their songs featured in the current issue of Metal Edge on the cd that’s included with the magazine, & if you’ve never seen the band, they are a 4 piece band that plays music I’d best describe as “Power Metal”, which is a term that I first remember hearing Pantera use, & it really says it all!

While I’m making reference to Pantera, the band commented during their set that they were the last band to ever play a complete show with Dimebag & Vin when they were Damage Plan...basically, STEMM opened the show for Damage Plan when they played in New York, & that was the last concert from Damage Plan & the last full show Dimebag ever played, because the very next show was the ill-fated one that ended tragically, so I thought that was an interesting piece of musical trivia, & this statement led into a song the band wrote about Dime which I thought was pretty cool.

I have to point out one thing that I witnessed at this show, that I’ve NEVER seen at any other shows at Angel’s...there was actually a small mosh pit going during STEMM’s set, & it was kinda odd to see, because if you’ve never been to Angel’s, Angel’s is really an upscale rock club, so you won’t normally see that sorta thing there, but it happened on this night, & it was pretty nice to see the crowd was diggin’ the band so much that they wanted to make a pit! The other thing that hit me almost immediately was the sound on this particular night...the band sounded amazing, & it was loud as F**K...seriously, I’ve seen alot of the shows they’ve had at Angel’s, & this one was clearly the best sounding & loudest of them all...when I first started taking pictures of the bands set I was close to the right PA & I had to move away pretty fast after a minute or so because it was just SUPER loud in there, & just incase you think I’m bitchin’ about that, I am NOT, what I am trying to say is, the sound was great, loud, & EVERYTHING that a good rock show should be!

STEMM’s set ended around 1 AM & the entire band came out, met with fans, & were super cool, very chill, down to earth guys, so if you get a chance to see the band when they play your part of the world, definitely check them out, they bring alot of energy & excitement to the room & even though it was a Thursday night, STEMM made it feel like it was a Saturday! I’d like to thank STEMM for putting on a great rock show & thank Angel’s for bringing such a killer band to Baltimore...in a time when it feels like alot of the venue’s for rock bands to play are closing up, it’s nice to see that there’s still some places that support rock music, & it’s nice to see that there’s still people out there that wanna see rock music!
